Artist Statement

In my attempt to capture something more than a literal representation of the world, I use color, line, and texture to create a bridge between what is felt and what is seen. My current work examines the urge we must control forces which aren’t not meant to be tamed. Recycling themes of repetitive motions mark making and experimental process throughout the series, creates a pathway of letting go and embracing spontaneity. 

Biography

Whitney Ann Marie is a mixed media artist, her practice is dedicated to experimentation as a means of self-discovery. She draws inspiration from motherhood as seen through spontaneous motions and large splashes of color poured and scraped across the canvas. Whitney Ann often uses gestural marks and drips of paint to explore the boundaries between chaos and calm, the very essence of motherhood. Whitney Ann Marie lives and works in Dallas Texas. She received a BFA from St. Cloud State University.
