Artist Statement
Through abstract gestural marks, Sebastien creates unsettlingly beautiful renditions of historical paintings. In doing so, he gives history’s most praised paintings a new context to exist. His work carefully balances the tension between raw abstraction and academic representation, blurring our understanding of the past and present..
Education
From Chicago, Sebastien has studied Painting at: The New York Academy of Art, The Marchutz School of Fine Arts (Aix-En-Provence, France) and The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Secondly, he has been an Artist-in-Residence at Motorola Solutions and L’Atalier Cail (Sainte Etienne, France).
